P: If you're not learning in the modern world, then you're regressing (Red queen effect).

Reference::

"It's not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." — Charles Darwin quote

The world is changing rapidly.

This means that if you're not changing—i.e., learning—with it, then you're not just not-changing—you're regressing. This is called the Red Queen effect—the increased pressure to adapt faster just to survive.

The Red Queen Effect comes from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass where a young girl Alice, gets schooled by the Red Queen. Alice finds herself running faster and faster but staying in the same place. Out of confusion, she asks the Red Queen why the trees, bushes, and other things stay in the same places although they're running so fast. The Queen astounded by the question answers, "...it takes all the running you can do to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!'"

In other words, to survive we need to coevolve with our environment. Think about it. If 10 years ago you ignored learning what mobile phones are, you wouldn't just not know what these devices are and do. You would miss out on the myriad opportunities these devices have opened up—the constant connection to the internet and all the benefits that flow from it. The same is true in politics. Because of the Red Queen effect learning is more important than ever.

Unfortunately, the educational system that once served the purpose to teaching people is mostly outdated.

This means that you have to find other ways of learning. This comes down to figuring out to learn by yourself. And learning from doing is one of the most effective methods of learning. P: Most effective learning comes from doing | Processized
