P: Just start writing, ideas will come

Reference::

It's very common that during writing I stumble upon a novel idea. I write about one thing and suddenly something completely unexpected enters my mind. Sometimes it happens many times so that I feel a sort of fear of missing out—should I continue to write about the thing I intended to or should I pursue the new idea that popped up?

If I choose the latter, usually a completely new avenue of ideas opens up. It's as if I entered a house with many rooms, where each room represents a novel concept.

This shows the power of writing in terms of idea generation. It's a sort of deliberate serendipity mechanism. Through writing, you generate many cues that have the potential of activating areas that contain unexpected ideas that were lurking in the back of your mind.

It's also possible that the cues that appear during writing might feed incomplete ideas with missing parts (here: PN: Most new ideas are incomplete). Each cue acts as a billiard ball that has the potential to hit other billiard balls, that can hit other billiard balls, and so on until an idea is formed.
