There are periods when life just gets harder. And it doesn't depend on the external difficulties but rather your perspective changes (it's subjective). It's as if some higher force changed the difficulty of your life in the game settings.
What happens is that you start seeing life in darker shades. The difficult things become more difficult and the pleasurable things get less pleasurable.
Why this happens is a question to explore but no matter what's the cause it's crucial that you're aware that sometimes the difficulty of your life will increase. Because being aware of it gives you the perspective needed to not beat yourself further down. When you understand that it's a part of the game, you become more resilient because you accept that you can't just change it immediately so you adapt accordingly and second of all you know that sooner or later it'll get back to normal.
Is it a natural cycle? Do natural yearly, monthly, weekly, daily cycles of high energy (when we need to focus on work) and low energy (when we need to prioritize rest) exist in human lives?
If it is natural, should you live in accordance with these cycles, like the fauna and flora, or push despite? Maybe in the short term working against the natural cycles will succeed but in the long term you might burn out?
Is it a consequence of external and internal circumstances adding up and overwhelming your system like P: How you react to external situations depends on the size of your cup?
The question is how should you act when the subjective difficulty of the game of life increases? I think it all depends whether the cause of it is natural (cyclical) or synthetic (add up).
If it's the former, it would be wise to go according to the cycles. You don't see plants grow during freezing winter. You might succeed initially, but in the long-term nature always wins, you would burn out.
If it's the latter, it would be wiser to push through the motions. Because then, it's just your body wanting you to stay in the comfort zone to maintain homeostasis. It's whispering into your ear to take the path of least resistance. What you need to do is to shut this voice down and don't listen to it. You need to go and do your questions no matter the color of you shades. Here you must choose the thing that is harder in the short-term.
Can it be both?
