Meditation gives you more mental space to be filled with new thoughts.
Those thoughts can come from external sources, like books, videos, podcasts, conversations, etc. But they can also come from within, from the unconscious.
This may result in two things.
First of all, you may become more creative because the newly available free space allows you to entertain more various thoughts and ideas. Those new ideas have now more room to mix, mingle, and combine to hopefully produce something innovative.
Second of all, you may increase your self-awareness – i.e., being more aware of your inner values, impulses, fantasies, moods, etc. – ultimately leading yourself to a more integrated personality. Carl Jung sums it up perfectly, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
