Relationships are one of the most important things in your life.
Other people give you meaning. You share your most important moments with family and friends. When something good or bad happens, your first instinct is to tell your closest ones. In case of emergency, they’re your first line of support. And so on…
If your relationships are good, everything else is at least not bad. If they’re missing, you’re miserable.
So, the thought of abandoning your closest ones to move to another country might sound scary at first.
But, if you analyze this thoroughly, it isn’t as bad as it seems.
There are ways to make relationships work even when you move to another country.
Visit them
With today's transportation going from country to country is quicker than it was going from city to city before modern times (meaning throughout 99% of our history).
300 years ago, a horse-pulled cart could travel up to 32 km PER DAY—this was the average distance between pre-modern cities. Nowadays, a car with an average travel speed of 100 km/h would be able to cross 1,600 km per day (assuming you travel for 16 hours). It's the distance from Warsaw to Paris.
With a plane, you can cut this travel time even further. It takes just 7 hours to go from Paris to New York (it’s almost 6,000 km)!
In other words, nowadays, if you want to visit your closest ones, you can reach them within a day or two, no matter where they live on the planet.
Contact them online
With today's digital technology times apart from your closest ones aren't as painful because you can talk to them and see them using videoconference tools like Skype or Facetime. OF COURSE, this doesn't replace face-to-face interactions, but it's better than nothing, right?
…
Ok, but what about everyday relationships? Those people with whom you go to a cafe, gossip about your acquaintances, and meet for a Sunday barbecue? What with them?
There are a couple of ways.
Import them
The first way is to import them :D Hold on, it's not as stupid as it sounds.
If you have close friends with whom you share a desire to move to another country, who happen to have similar tastes to you (which is quite possible because they’re your friends), you can plan to move together.
Make new ones
The second way is to make new friends at the new place. In general, younger you are, the easier it's going to be.
