Most of the people are victims of today's world in which attention is the currency. Companies hook you with their products to either make you keep using their product or to sell your attention to advertisers. This is the nature of most of the 'free' products millions or even billions use. You get them seemingly for free when in reality you are selling yourself (your attention to.
Therefore, you're being fed with things that aim to keep you on those platforms––I am talking about social media, the news, television, porn, etc. These platforms employ mechanisms that use your psychology, your natural instincts to get you addicted and want more.
In turn, slowly but surely, your attention is filled with the products of these technologies—usually consisting of high-dopamine things—leaving little space for your individual thoughts.
When you do NSD, you detach yourself from these sources of short-term, high-dopamine things, and you replace this garbage with either quality information in a form of books, papers, podcasts, lectures, etc. or times of slack and quality rest where the ideas you have can mix, mingle, and combine leading to greater creativity.
