PN: Understand personality types to have better disputes

Reference: R: Psychological Types by Carl Jung -> 'Highlights (epilogue)'

During disputes, people like to attack either side purely externally, always seeking out the biggest and most embarrassing faults in their opponents arguments to make them as weak as possible. Such debates are usually fruitless because they limit themselves to the external, which is futile.

It would be more productive if they transferred the argument to the place from where it comes from – the psychological realm.

There they would notice the different psychological attitudes people have may be the reason for different perspectives, and thus disagreements on the same issue.

They would settle the argument with the understanding that first, people have different perspectives which cause them to perceive and judge the world differently; second, each person is so imprisoned in their type that they are simply incapable of fully understanding another's standpoint.

After agreeing on having a different apparatus to interact with the world (cognitive functions) which results in different standpoints, they can start using their different perspectives to generate a stronger argument.

Relevant notes:

PN: Win through your actions, never through argument: arguing is likely to be unsuccessful because people's emotion's get involved which causes their minds to close.

PN: Why knowing your personality type is important: knowing personality types helps you better understand yourself which let's you develop faster and understand where other people are coming from, enabling you to have better relationships with them.

PN: Understand personality types to have better disputes: Psychological types determine how people perceive and judge information. Because of that they tend to have different opinions and perspectives leading to arguments. To avoid that, people should acknowledge that difference and try to come up with a better understanding of a subject by combining their views.
